A new turf system at People First Stadium is helping the grounds remain pitch perfect this AFL season.
A SIS grass turf system was installed at the interchange gate areas to help the turf resist tearing and divots while allowing natural grass to keep growing uninterrupted.
The system involves stitching a 95% natural grass profile with 5% UV-stable polyethylene fibres, down to a 90mm depth.
People First Stadium A/Venue General Manager Ryan Davey said the team have already noticed strong results.
“Since it’s installation ahead of football season, the new turf system has already resulted in improved grass coverage, better surface stability, reduced wear, and a firmer underfoot feel,” Ryan said.
“This is not only a great result for the Gold Coast SUNS, but it will also be a very worthwhile upgrade to the field when we transition to host other content types later this year, including T20 International Cricket.”
